AHI Applauds Representative Dan Goldman for Joining Congressional Hellenic-Israel Alliance

Representative Dan Goldman (D-NY)

No. 22

WASHINGTON, DC - The American Hellenic Institute applauds Representative Dan Goldman (D-NY) for his decision to join the Congressional Hellenic-Israel Alliance, an association for Members of Congress that promotes cooperation on issues involving Greece, Cyprus, and Israel.

The decision to join the alliance came after many months of Representative Goldman diligently addressing the ongoing conflicts occuring in close proximity to the East Mediterranean, a region which is critically important to the security of the United States and its allies.

AHI President Nick Larigakis stated “I am very pleased that Representative Dan Goldman joined the Congressional Hellenic-Israel Alliance. This speaks to his commitment to representing the many Greek-Americans who live in his district. Representative Goldman will be an important voice in bolstering the 3+1 program and greater cooperation between the United States, Greece, Cyprus and Israel.”

Representative Goldman cosponsored the Safe Return Act, which would ensure that Americans stuck abroad would no longer be required to repay the federal government for assistance to return home. He also sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken urging him to take immediate action to help Americans return home from Israel. Representative Goldman himself was in Israel with his family on October 7, 2023, during the brutal terrorist attack from Hamas.

Representative Goldman also introduced a resolution demanding Hamas release the hostages they took on October 7, 2023, followed by another resolution to condemn and counter the rise of Anti-Semitism in the U.S.

AHI staff worked with Representative Goldman’s office to highlight the roles of Greece and Cyprus in the ongoing conflicts occurring near them, along with how the United States can utilize its strategic relations with these countries in order to help protect its interests in the region.
