Our Mission

The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) is a non-profit policy center and think tank founded in 1974 that promotes the interests of the United States in foreign affairs involving Greece, the Republic of Cyprus, the Eastern Mediterranean, and Southern Europe. AHI promotes the rule of law, defense cooperation, energy development, national security, religious freedom, and other issues relevant to achieving the international goals of the U.S.

From our Hellenic House headquarters, just steps from the White House, AHI’s staff works with Congress, the Department of State, diplomatic corps, and educational institutions to advance the interests of the U.S.

Through our deep understanding and knowledge of regional history and related policies, we serve as a leading voice within the Greek American community. With our advocacy, newsletters, conferences, seminars, and publications, we serve as a resource to policymakers, stakeholders, and our network of supporters by providing them with the information necessary to effectively implement foreign policy.
