AHI-Athens Chapter Kicks Off Year with Vasilopita-Cutting Ceremony

ATHENS, GREECE - The AHI-Athens Chapter held its annual Vasilopita-cutting ceremony at the Athens Club, January 20, 2024, with many AHI supporters and friends in attendance.

AHI President Nick Larigakis and AHI-Athens President Retired Vice Admiral Vassilios Kyriazis addressed the audience and participated in the vasilopita-cutting ceremony. They reviewed AHI’s activities and provided a preview of what programming is to come in 2024. AHI-Athens President Emeritus George Economou sponsored the ceremony, and offered greetings.

Additional greetings were also given by Secretary General of Public Diplomacy and Greeks Abroad, Prof. John Chrysoulakis.

“The ceremony was a great way to kick-off 2024 for AHI’s Athens chapter, and we are excited for another productive year in Greece,” President Nick Larigakis said. “My sincere thanks to AHI-Athens President Kyriazis for organizing the ceremony and AHI-Athens President Emeritus Economou for his generosity as the lead sponsor to underwrite the event.”

Among those in attendance was, Vice Admiral Alexandrakis Georgios, Commandant of the Hellenic Coast Guard; Ambassador Andreas Fryganas, Director A4, Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Professor Yannis Maniatis, former Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change; Admiral Stelios Petrakis, former Chief of the Hellenic Navy; and Admiral; John Drimousis, former Chief of the Hellenic Navy. Also present was major AHI benefactor Dimitris Dafnis, Managing Director of Aeroservices.
