AHI President Attends Exclusive Conference on Greek Foreign Policy, Provides Insight on Diaspora’s Role
No. 111
WASHINGTON, DC - On December 12 and 13, 2024, American Hellenic Institute (AHI) President Nick Larigakis attended a prestigious, invite-only two-day conference titled, “Greece 1974-2024: 50 Years of Greek Foreign Policy” hosted by the Council for International Relations, the Delphi Economic Forum, and TO VIMA newspaper.
Conference Organizer and Moderator Symeon G. Tsomokos, founder and president of Delphi Economic Forum, granted Larigakis a sole opportunity to offer commentary from the audience during a December 13 session titled, “Greece, the World and the Role of the Diaspora.” Larigakis shared his three-plus decades of experience in Washington, D.C., providing a unique perspective regarding the engagement of the Greek American community in issues involving the Eastern Mediterranean. The panel featured former Greek Foreign Minister Andreas Loverdos, General Secretary for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy Maira Myrogianni, and Othon Anastasakis, director of South East European Studies at Oxford (SEESOX) and senior research fellow at St Antony's College, UK.
“The Greek communities around the world have pivotal role in the dialogue between Greece and the global community,” Larigakis said. “I appreciated the opportunity Symeon Tsomokos afforded me to share my experiences in this space and contribute to the important discussion provided by distinguished panelists.”
Larigakis’ attendance at the conference highlights the American Hellenic Institute’s ongoing commitment to promoting U.S.-Greece relations and advancing key issues affecting Greece, Cyprus, and the broader Eastern Mediterranean region.
The American Hellenic Institute is an independent non-profit U.S. public policy center and think tank that works to strengthen U.S. relations with Greece and the Republic of Cyprus, and promote issues important to the Greek American community.
