How to Submit

Manuscripts of articles to be considered for publication should be sent as an attachment (.doc/.docx) to Dr. Constantine Hatzidimitriou at ghatzidimitriou1@aol.com or Yola Pakhchanian at yolapack@ahiworld.org.

For proposals: send a one-page description about the content of your proposed essay. This can be like a formal abstract or more informal. If you wish, add your personal interest and any unique motivations regarding this work.

Submitted completed manuscripts must be original and not currently under review elsewhere. The manuscripts must be accompanied by 50-to-100-word biographical note introducing the contributor’s education background, current affiliations, research interests, recent publications and full contact details (email, phone, fax and postal).

Format for Submissions

• All submissions must be in English and submitted electronically (in Microsoft Word format).

• The article should be written in Times New Roman font.

• Title should be in size 16. Author’s name should be in size 14.

• Title and author should be centered. Subheadings flush left in size 12.

• The main text should be written in size 12.

• Either footnotes or endnotes are acceptable. Please use one style consistently throughout the manuscript. Citations should appear in the notes rather than parenthetically within the text.

• Further reading should be listed alphabetically by author at the end of the paper.

• In matters of style and citation, authors should generally follow the Chicago Manual of Style.

• Always use Greece, not Hellas, for identifying the nation state. Use Hellenic to indicate a culture broader than that of a nation state.

• Render geographical names in standard English: Crete, not Kriti.

Requirements for each category of submission

Scholarly articles

Scholarly manuscripts should be approximately 7,000 to 8,000 words. Longer manuscripts will be considered only in exceptional circumstances.

Book reviews

Book reviews should be approximately 1,000-2,000 words unless another length has been mutually agreed on.

Shorter articles, essays or briefing papers

The journal encourages the submission of shorter articles of a timely nature. These should be approximately 2,500 to 3,500 words in length and require few citations. Unsolicited articles are welcomed.

Student Opportunities

A special category of our journal are essays titled Emerging Voices of Greek America which features the work of young Greek Americans and phil-Hellenes. Many may still be attending a university.

The Review Process

By necessity the timing of the review process varies, but we hope to reply to authors within three to four weeks of receiving the submission.

GENERAL AGREEMENT

The AHIF shall acquire the copyright to all works published in the AHIF policy journal and have the right of first publication in any format including print and online. The AHIF may, in its sole discretion, edit the content of each work submitted for publication.
