JOHN VASILIOU
JOHN VASILIOU is an owner and Executive Vice-President of Astra Foods, a Philadelphia-based private-label meat manufacturing company. John also holds key leadership roles in the local and national Greek American community. A graduate of New York University’s prestigious Stern School of Business, John worked during his college years in New York at the International Securities Exchange and spent time in Washington D.C. interning for United States Senator Paul Sarbanes. Upon graduation, John went into the family business to help grow Astra Foods into the nation’s leading manufacturer of Philly-Style meat products. From a young age, John has always had a deep commitment to service in the Greek American Community. He holds present or past roles as Board Member of the American Hellenic Institute, Vice-President of the Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Philadelphia, Chairman of the Greek Independence Day Parade, President of the Hellenic Heritage Association of NYU, Vice-President of Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Upper Darby, Board Member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Philadelphia, Chairman of the Upper Darby Greek Festival, Co-Founder of the Philadelphia Greek Basketball League, Co-Chairman of the National Hellenic Society’s Philadelphia chapter, Board Member of the Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia, and has served as Master of Ceremonies for several Metropolis of New Jersey and Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Philadelphia events. John is married to Renee Koumatos Vasiliou, and the couple resides with their three children, Dimosthenes, Flora, and Katerina, in suburban Philadelphia.
