AHI Applauds Senators Who Voted to Block F-16s Sale to Turkey
No. 28
WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. Senate rejected a joint resolution introduced by U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) to block the $23 billion sale of F-16s and modernization kits to Turkey by a vote of 13 to 79 on February 29, 2024. The American Hellenic Institute applauds the 13 Senators who voted for the measure.
“We sincerely thank Senator Paul, and especially the senators, who voted to block the arms sale to Turkey,” President Nick Larigakis said. “Turkey remains a flagrant violator of the rule of law, and it must be held to account.”
AHI reiterated its strong opposition to the arms sale in a January 2024 statement and previously applauded the introduction of S.J.Res.60, a joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval of the proposed foreign military sale to the Government of Turkiye of certain defense articles and services.
