AHI Commends Congresswoman Dina Titus For Leading Letter to Secretary Rubio Requesting Further Action on Arrest of Greek-Cypriots by Turkish Occupation Forces
WASHINGTON - On September 4, 2025, U.S. Representative Dina Titus (D-NV) led a congressional letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio requesting he engage with the Turkish forces occupying the Republic of Cyprus to demand the release of five elderly Greek-Cypriots who were illegally arrested in July.
The letter was also signed by Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), Rep. Chris Pappas (D-NH), and Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY).
Rep. Titus described the arrests as “cruel and politically motivated.”
This demand for further action also included a call to address Turkey’s “many human rights violations against Greek-Cypriots.”
In August, AHI also sent a letter to Secretary Rubio to condemn the arrests and encourage a U.S. response.
