AHI President Larigakis Delivers Archon Sunday Presentation on the Status of the Ecumenical Patriarchate
On behalf of the Archons, Larigakis presented on the challenges confronting the Ecumenical Patriarchate and its spiritual leader, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew
WASHINGTON, DC — American Hellenic Institute (AHI) President and Archon Nick Larigakis delivered a presentation on the status of the Ecumenical Patriarchate during Archon Sunday on November 23, 2025, an annual observance across the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America dedicated to raising awareness about religious freedom issues facing the Mother Church. The presentation took place at his home parish, Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Falls Church, VA.
On behalf of the Archons, Larigakis presented on the challenges confronting the Ecumenical Patriarchate and its spiritual leader, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I. He detailed the restrictive Turkish government policies that limit the Patriarchate’s religious freedom and institutional viability and threaten the long-term continuity of the Mother Church, and he also updated parishioners on current developments.
“I was honored to make this important presentation to the devout parishioners of my community,” Larigakis said. “It is vital that our community remains informed about the serious challenges facing the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and I appreciated the opportunity to engage our parish on issues that profoundly affect our faith and the future of the Mother Church.”
