WASHINGTON, D.C. — The growing defense partnership between the United States and the Republic of Cyprus, as well as the current situation in the Middle East, were discussed during a meeting held Tuesday, March 3, at the Hellenic House in Washington, D.C.

American Hellenic Institute (AHI) President and CEO Nick Larigakis welcomed Lt. Gen. Neophytos Pachoulides, Deputy Chief of the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus, for discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding defense cooperation with American partners. The meeting also included an exchange of views on the situation in Iran and its broader implications for regional stability.

Lt. Gen. Pachoulides thanked AHI for its work and for its continued efforts to advance the cause of Cyprus, while Larigakis reaffirmed AHI’s commitment to the Cyprus issue and to supporting initiatives that promote dialogue and partnership between the two countries.

The meeting highlighted the shared interest of both sides in continued stability and engagement in the region, noting Cyprus’s strategic location.
