AHI Foundation Appoints Dr. Andrew R. Novo as Non-Resident Fellow for the Eastern Mediterranean

Dr. Novo will contribute to AHIF’s research, publications, and public programming, supporting its mission to advance informed dialogue and policy solutions on issues affecting Hellenism and U.S. interests in the Eastern Mediterranean

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Hellenic Institute Foundation (AHIF) announced the appointment of Dr. Andrew R. Novo as Non-Resident Fellow for the Eastern Mediterranean, enhancing the Foundation’s research, analysis, and policy engagement on key regional issues.

“Dr. Novo brings a distinguished record of scholarship and strategic insight that will strengthen AHIF’s role as the leading Greek American think tank and public policy center,” AHI President and CEO Nick Larigakis said. “His expertise will help inform policymakers and stakeholders on the evolving challenges and opportunities in the Eastern Mediterranean.”

As Non-Resident Fellow, Dr. Novo will contribute to AHIF’s research, publications, and public programming, supporting its mission to advance informed dialogue and policy solutions on issues affecting Hellenism and U.S. interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.

About Dr. Novo

Dr. Novo is Professor of Strategic Studies at the National Defense University and an adjunct at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service and the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He earned a D.Phil. and M.Phil. from the University of Oxford, St. Antony’s College, and an A.B. from Princeton University.

A scholar of strategic studies and Mediterranean history, Dr. Novo is also a non-resident senior fellow with the Center for European Policy Analysis’s Transatlantic Defense and Security Program. He is the author of numerous academic articles and six books, including Where the Mountains Burn: A Novel of World War II Italy; Turbulence Across the Sea: Transatlantic Relations and Strategic Competition (2024); The EOKA Cause: Nationalism and the Failure of Cypriot Enosis (2021); and Restoring Thucydides (2020).

His research focuses on great power competition, Mediterranean history, and alliance dynamics. He speaks French and Modern Greek and is conversant in Italian.
