AHI Legislative Director Meets with Over 20 Offices in Advocacy Blitz
WASHINGTON -American Hellenic Institute Legislative Director Alexander Christofor spent the months of August and September meeting with offices on Capitol Hill to promote AHI’s policy agenda for 2025, which includes multiple amendments for the annual National Defense Authorization Act and H.R. 2510: The American-Hellenic-Israeli Eastern Mediterranean Counterterrorism and Maritime Security Partnership Act of 2025.
Christofor focused on Members who served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Armed Services Committee. Meetings also included the offices of Members in key party leadership positions.
As a result of Christofor’s efforts, many meetings produced support for AHI’s policy agenda, including multiple instances of Members of Congress cosponsoring legislation initiated by AHI.
Christofor stated “One of the greatest strengths of the Greek American community is that all of us constantly pursue U.S. interests in Southern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean, and as a result, when we work together, we have a very vocal voice on these issues.”
Christofor continued, “I appreciate the staff of these offices taking time to learn more about U.S. interests in these regions of great geostrategic importance. The bipartisan support resulting from these meetings was ultimately created through the hard work and dedication of the numerous legislative aids and policy advisors on Capitol Hill. These staffers truly care about making meaningful progress on these topics and have put in the time and effort needed to do so."
