WASHINGTON, DC — As part of its ongoing congressional outreach efforts, the American Hellenic Institute (AHI) met this week with the office of Senator Rick Scott (R-FL). AHI President Nick Larigakis and Legislative Assistant Will Martin met with the Senator’s Deputy Chief of Staff and National Security Advisor and his Military Legislative Assistant.
The discussion focused on U.S. interests in the Eastern Mediterranean and the importance of rule of law and regional stability. AHI praised Senator Scott’s past statements supporting Greece and the Republic of Cyprus. The two sides exchanged views on how the United States can best protect its strategic interests in the region by standing with reliable, democratic allies and holding all regional partners accountable to international law.
“We are grateful to Senator Scott’s office for a productive and substantive meeting,” said Larigakis. “The Senator has been a strong voice for Greece, Cyprus, and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean. U.S. interests in the region are best served when we support allies who share our values and hold every partner to the same standard under international law. We look forward to continuing to work with his office to advance those interests.”
