AHI Releases Updated 2026 U.S.–Republic of Cyprus Strategic Partnership Fact Sheet

WASHINGTON, DC — The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) has released an updated edition of its U.S.–Republic of Cyprus Strategic Partnership Fact Sheet, highlighting the continued growth and strengthening of bilateral relations between the United States and the Republic of Cyprus.
The updated edition highlights several major developments over the past year, including the Second U.S.–Cyprus Strategic Dialogue, the continued implementation of the 2024–2029 Defense Cooperation Roadmap, the renewal of the U.S. arms sales policy toward the Republic of Cyprus through September 2026, the milestone of 100 Cypriot officers and non-commissioned officers completing or participating in the International Military Education and Training (IMET) program, the approval of a Cypriot Foreign Liaison Officer position in New Jersey, and ongoing planning for the expansion of Paphos Air Base to enhance future security cooperation.
The fact sheet also reflects the continued implementation of President Joe Biden’s January 2025 directive authorizing the Republic of Cyprus to participate in three key U.S. defense programs—Foreign Military Sales (FMS), Excess Defense Articles (EDA), and Article 10 Assistance Programs—further strengthening defense interoperability and bilateral security cooperation.
The fact sheet serves as a resource for policymakers, congressional offices, the media, educators, and the public by providing an overview of the expanding strategic partnership between the United States and the Republic of Cyprus and its importance to U.S. interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.
