AHI to Conduct 50th Anniversary Trip to Greece and Cyprus, Meet with Key Leaders

WASHINGTON - A 25-member American Hellenic Institute delegation will conduct the “AHI 50th Anniversary Trip to Greece and Cyprus” from November 30 to December 11, 2024. AHI President Nick Larigakis will lead the delegation which will include, AHI Board Chairman, James Lagos, American Hellenic Institute Foundation Board Chairman, Leon Andris, other board members, their spouses, and special friends of the AHI.  The trip will represent the last official event to commemorate AHI’s 50th Anniversary.

The trip will begin in the Republic of Cyprus, taking place November 30 to December 4, and will include high-level meetings or events with, among other officials:

  • President Nikos Christodoulides

  • U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus Julie Fisher

  • President of the House of Representatives, Ms. Annita Demetriou

  • His Beatitude Archbishop of Cyprus Georgios

  • Defense Minister Vasillis Palmas

  • Chief of the National Guard Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas

As part of the itinerary in the Republic of Cyprus, there will be a day excursion to the Kykkos Monastery and a visit to the Old Nicosia Airport inside the UN Buffer zone.

The delegation will visit Greece from December 4 to 11. The itinerary will include high-level meetings or events with, among other officials:

  • President Katerina Sakellaropoulou

  • Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis

  • U.S. Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic George Tsunis

  • President of the Hellenic Parliament Constantine Tassoulas

  • Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff General Dimitrios Choupis

  • His Beatitude Ieronymos II, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece

  • Athens Academy

The Athens itinerary will culminate with the AHI 20th Anniversary Athens Awards Dinner on December 10 at The Grande Bretagne Hotel.

Additional events in Greece will include a Saint Nicholas celebration at the Naval Academy of Piraeus, a VIP tour and private dinner at the Acropolis Museum, and a VIP day trip to Ancient Olympia.
