AHIF Study Abroad Alumna’s Article Published in SMU’s Honors Publication
No. 9
DALLAS, TX - Alexandra Lahiri, a 2024 AHI Foundation (AHIF) Foreign Policy Study Abroad participant, had her article, “Den Xehno: I Do Not Forget,” published in Hilltopics – the Southern Methodist University Honors Program’s opinion publication, Fall 2024 Edition.
In her piece, Lahiri draws on her experience with the AHIF program to highlight the ongoing significance of the Cyprus issue, urging that such significant historical events should not be forgotten. She emphasizes the importance of remembering these incidents and acting now to prevent similar issues from impacting future generations.
“I am truly honored to have my work published in Hilltopics,” Lahiri said. “I am deeply grateful to the American Hellenic Institute for providing me with the opportunity to explore the Cyprus issue firsthand, and to Joan Arbery and the Hilltopics editors for their invaluable support in publishing my article.”
“We are pleased that Alexandra was able to share her moving experience with her professors and peers at SMU,” President Nick Larigakis said. “We thank Hilltopics for publishing her account and look forward to providing more students with the opportunity to experience and share what Alexandra learned through the AHI Foundation Foreign Policy Study Abroad program.”
Lahiri, a Junior Honors Pre-Law Scholar at Southern Methodist University (SMU), is on track to graduate in May 2026. She is pursuing double degrees in international studies with a concentration in European studies, and music with a concentration in voice, alongside double minors in Latin and classical studies.
