AHIF Alum Will Martin Joins Institute as Legislative Assistant

Arkansas native brings international experience to Institute’s policy role

WASHINGTON, DC — The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Will Martin as its new Legislative Assistant. An Arkansas native, Martin earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Global Politics and Russian Area Studies from Washington and Lee University.

During his studies, he served on W&L’s Mock Convention Platform Committee, contributing to the development of a simulated Republican Party platform that anticipated the Party’s positions ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

His work focused on foreign policy issues and culminated in a one-on-one interview with a former Acting Secretary of Defense during the conference, held before televised and live audiences.

After receiving the David L. Boren Scholarship, Martin spent nine months in Almaty, Kazakhstan, studying the Russian language through the American Councils for International Education’s Russian Language and Area Studies Program.

Importantly, Martin is also an alumnus of AHIF’s College Student Foreign Policy Trip, having experienced firsthand the issues he will now help advocate for daily. He participated in the program during the summer of 2023.

“It is a privilege to join AHI and dedicate myself to these critical issues,” Martin said. “I’m eager to draw on my experiences to strengthen the bonds between the American and Greek peoples, building on the values and goals our two communities share.”

AHI President Nick Larigakis welcomed Martin to the team, emphasizing the Institute’s commitment to cultivating the next generation of advocates.

“We’re delighted to have Will join AHI,” Larigakis said. “His academic achievements, international experience, and direct connection to our Student Foreign Policy Trip make him exceptionally well-prepared to contribute to our work on Capitol Hill. Will represents the kind of talent and enthusiasm that will help sustain AHI’s mission well into the future.”

Martin’s background in international affairs, combined with his research experience, language training, and firsthand exposure to AHI’s mission, positions him to play an integral role in advancing the Institute’s policy priorities.

His understanding of foreign policy, diplomacy, and transatlantic relations will support AHI’s efforts to build constructive relationships with policymakers and promote the values it represents.
