No. 68
FAIRFAX, VA — The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) hosted its 23rd Annual Golf Classic at the Country Club of Fairfax on October 19, 2026. Seventy-two golfers took part in the scramble-format tournament.
The day began with breakfast featuring the DC Sports Roundtable, which included three Washington sports personalities: Chick Hernandez, a multiple Emmy Award winner who was DC’s longest-tenured TV sportscaster; Larry Michael, a 12-time regional Emmy Award winner, son of Greek immigrants from Sparta and voice of Washington’s NFL team for 16 years; and George Wallace, Greek-American and WTOP’s Sports Director since 2010, whose assignments have included the Summer Olympics in Athens. A raffle followed, and play began with an 11:15 a.m. shotgun start. The day ended with an awards dinner and a silent auction.
