WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Hellenic Institute Foundation (AHIF) is honored to announce a generous bequest of $670,000 from the estate of E. John Rumpakis. This extraordinary gift reflects John’s lifelong dedication to advancing Hellenism, preserving our shared heritage, and strengthening the Greek American community.

“We extend our deepest gratitude for this remarkable contribution, which stands as a testament to John’s passion and commitment,” AHI President Nick Larigakis and AHI Foundation President Leon Andris said in a joint statement. “His philanthropy leaves an enduring legacy, ensuring that our mission continues to thrive for generations to come.”

AHIF remains steadfast in its efforts to promote research, education, and advocacy on issues of importance to the Greek American community. This generous bequest will further support meaningful programs that cultivate a deeper appreciation of Hellenic ideals and inspire others to contribute to the preservation of our rich cultural heritage.

“We are profoundly grateful for John’s generosity and the lasting impact he has made,” they added. “It is an honor to carry forward this important work in his memory.”

In 2007, E. John and his wife, Cleo, donated $180,000 to the AHIF to establish a library in their names.
