WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) was proud to serve as one of the 28 Greek American organizations that hosted the fifth annual "Oli Mazi" luncheon, held Wednesday, September 23, at the University Club in Manhattan during the High-Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly. AHI President Nick Larigakis, Legislative Assistant Will Martin, and AHI Chairman James Lagos represented AHI at the event.
The event brought together more than 300 community members, dignitaries, and guests to welcome Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who honored six individuals for their contributions to strengthening ties between Greece and the United States. This year's honorees were Dr. George Dangas, Athena Kromidas, John Koudounis, Michael Amiridis, Ambassador Patrick Theros, and U.S. Representative Dina Titus.
In his address, the Prime Minister covered Greece's economic recovery, its defense and energy policy, and the new right of Greeks abroad to vote from where they live.
"The Oli Mazi luncheon is a powerful reminder of what our community can accomplish when we stand together," said Larigakis. "AHI was honored to join our fellow organizations in welcoming Prime Minister Mitsotakis and in recognizing six outstanding individuals whose work strengthens the U.S.-Greece relationship."
