AHI Staff Attend Our Ocean Conference Countdown Featuring Greek FM Gerapetritis & Envoy for Climate John Kerry; Georgetown European Policy Organization Conversation

Washington, DC — AHI Executive Director Zac Cotronakis and Legislative Assistant Alexander Christofor attended lectures this week featuring the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Giorgos Gerapetritis.

The first event was Our Ocean Countdown, Greece 2024: An Ocean of Potential, a discussion hosted by the Global European Program and the Wilson Center. The panel included U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry. The event preludes the 9th Ocean Conference, which will take place this year in Athens from April 16 to 17, with a youth summit on April 15.

The second event was a conversation moderated by Mark Vlasic, Senior Fellow and Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University and hosted by the European Policy Organization of Georgetown University in cooperation with the Embassy of Greece. The event was organized by Vassilis Koutsoumpas, President of the European Policy Organization, who introduced Foreign Minister Gerapetritis and Professor Vlasic.

Foreign Minister Gerapetritis discussed topics which included Greece’s leading role in clean energy production, its partnership with the United States in addressing climate change, its rapidly expanding economy, and its current role in international affairs.
