WASHINGTON - The American Hellenic Institute Foundation (AHIF) is honored to announce a transformative gift of $751,000 from James and Nike Lagos, made through the proceeds of a property sale. As longtime supporters of AHIF—and with James Lagos serving as Chairman of the American Hellenic Institute—the Lagos’ have consistently demonstrated an enduring commitment to the organization’s mission and future.

This deeply meaningful contribution will significantly enhance AHIF’s ability to advance its policy priorities, expand educational initiatives, and promote Hellenic values in Washington and beyond.

“Jim and Nike have been treasured members of the AHIF family for many decades,” said AHI President Nick Larigakis. “This extraordinary gift is a reflection of their deep belief in our work and their love for the Hellenic ideals we strive to uphold. We are moved by their generosity and proud to have earned their trust and support in such a meaningful way.”

“This is not simply a donation—it is a lasting expression of faith in our shared mission. Jim and Nike’s kindness, loyalty, and vision have shaped the very foundation of AHIF. We are profoundly grateful for their continued leadership and the example they set for others in our community,” AHIF Chairman Leon Andris added.

The American Hellenic Institute Foundation, Inc., established in 1975, is a 501(c) (3) non-profit tax-exempt educational and research organization and is the first “think tank” devoted exclusively to the study of the issues confronting the Greek American community.
